The How I Choose My Books Tag

I have been tagged to do the How I Choose My Books Tag by Darque Dreamer Reads and Bookchanted. Thank you both for tagging me! They have awesome blogs. I’ve been tagged in a lot of things lately, so it usually takes me 1-2 months to actually get around to it. But I do have a lot of cool tags sitting in my drafts and I can’t wait to post them all!

1. Find a book on your shelves with a blue cover. What made you pick up the book in the first place?

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

I decided to read Big Little Lies after I enjoyed reading The Husband’s Secret. Also, her books are usually the cheapest in the bookstore because they are mass-produced in Australia 😉

2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy but did. Why did you read it in the first place?

Someone on my blog once recommended I See You by Clare MacKintosh to me. I really loved it! I thought I wouldn’t because most reviews say the book is average, but I thought it was fantastic.

3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random. How did you discover this book?

Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma

I think I just saw this book in a bookstore for a cheap price and decided to pick it up. It is a young adult book but has some kind of mystery/fantasy element. Off topic, but when I was younger I hated it when I read a young adult book and didn’t understand what was happening or if the themes were too intense. I think some young adult books are too challenging for teenagers. I must have been about 13 when I read this, which is the right age group, yet I was quite confused by what I was reading.

4. Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

One of my friends a few years ago recommended The Hunger Games to me. I liked the first book but not the next one.

5. Pick a book you discovered through book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?

One book that has been very hyped in the book community is Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. This book was extremely easy to read. Usually I just say a book is easy to read, but this book was extremely easy to read. I think the writing is incredibly basic. But I did like it; I rated it 4 stars. However, I do not think it lived up to the hype.

6. Find a book on your shelves with a one word title. What drew you to this book?

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I wanted to read Fangirl because I was in my first year of university and wanted to start reading more. I chose Fangirl after I did some research and found out that it was loved by many in the book community.

7. What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?

Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar

That’s a really hard question! Usually it’s the other way around. I read the Gossip Girl series after watching the television show. I prefer the show much more, as the characters in the books are very unlikeable.

8. Think of your all-time favourite books. When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I picked up this book last year because it was a new release from an author I like. I read it in 2016 (age 19).

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

I read The Last Song because I read many other books from Nicholas Sparks and I really love his work. I read it in 2010 (age 13).

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

I decided to read I’ll Give You the Sun because of blogging! I think that was the reason. I read it at the end of 2016 (age 19).

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I read Twilight because a friend told me to read it. I already owned it because my mother bought it for my brother to read (he never did, I have no idea why my mum did that). I read it in 2009 (age 12).
