In May last year I created a list of ten Young Adult books that I wanted to read by the end of 2017. They were all books that I was really looking forward to reading at the time, and wanted to order them so I would remember the next YA book I wanted to read. I managed to read most of them and have reasons as to why I didn't read the others.
I hope that everyone had a great New Year's! My birthday was on New Year's Day, which is good because you start your birthday to fireworks, but bad because you have to remind everyone that it's your birthday.
There are only a few days until 2018, which means I need to share my favourite books of 2017! I have read 53 books in 2017 and five of those have become new favourites.
Now that I have been book blogging for over a year, I have started to become more aware of books that have yet to be released. There are many different reasons why I anticipate a book that hasn't come out yet, such as I loved a previous book from an author and want to read their next book. Today is day 2 of blogmas, and I am going to be showing you my 2018 anticipated book releases.
It is Day 4 of my 6 Days of Blogmas! Today is my favourite Christmas songs and movies. Favourite Christmas Songs "Last Christmas" by Wham I love George Michael and this song is something I get excited about every time I hear it. I listen to it the most every Christmas! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8gmARGvPlI "All I Want … Continue reading Blogmas Day 4: My Favourite Christmas Songs and Movies
Reading books that are outside of my comfort zone is something that I try to do occasionally. But because I find them "challenging", I don't read them very often. They are not the kind of books that make me excited when I look at my TBR. Nonetheless, I've put together a list of books that … Continue reading Blogmas Day 3: Challenging Books I Want to Read in 2018
Another readathon hosted by Zoe Herdt happened on Saturday 9 December. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to read Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. This readathon is a 24-hour event where you read however much you like between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. Zoe likes to pull an all-nighter, but I like to sleep, and my bedtime is usually before 12:00 a.m.
At the beginning of the year, I saw that PopSugar were hosting a reading challenge over 2017 and thought it would be a great challenge to keep in mind throughout the year. To be honest, I only looked at it once, but have read over 50 books this year and many of them related to one of the prompts. I didn't do all of them, but I did manage to do most!
I have had the same bookcase since I was around ten-years-old and just recently (I'm twenty) filled it entirely with books. Now when I buy new books I have to move things around and shove unwanted books underneath (as you can see in the photo on the right). I thought it was a good opportunity for me to un-haul some books that I either never read, really disliked, or have worn/unappealing covers.
Several other blogs have taken part in this post idea, and after Rachel inspired me, I decided to write one too. I do not rate books 5 stars very often, but there are plenty of books out there that have been rated highly and it makes me think that I'll do the same. All of these books have been on my TBR for ages and I have most likely not read them because I've been unable to get a copy. When I go into reading a book, I usually want it to be a 5-star read, though I know it is unlikely to happen. So here are five books that I really hope will be my newest 5-star reads!
