Mid year book freakout tag

Hello everyone!

I have been off uni for one week and am trying to think of blog post ideas, but in the meantime I thought I would do the mid year book freakout tag. So far I have read 23 books in 2018. I am four books behind schedule on goodreads, but I don’t really care.

Best book you’ve read so far

I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and it was everything I needed in a book! I love books that go over the span over many years because a lot more can happen and it allows for there to be way more drama.

New release you haven’t read yet but want to

I recently bought Stone Girl by Eleni Hale that was released in April. I would really like to read it, but I have a few ARCs I need to read first.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I am really excited for several books coming out! The one I am most excited about is All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover. Her books are always really enjoyable and she’s the only author I am very loyal towards.

Biggest disappointment of the year

I was really disappointed by The Nowhere Child by Christian White. It didn’t hold my interest at all.

Biggest surprise of the year

The biggest surprise was Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I was immediately hooked in by the story and couldn’t put it down. I didn’t think the book was going to be so good!

Favourite new author

I cannot choose just one, so here are two of my new favourite authors:

Alice Oseman: After reading Radio Silence, I need to read some more books from her!

Jenn Bennett: I got Starry Eyes as an ARC and really loved it. I think I’ll need to read Alex, Approximately soon.

Your newest favourite character

I love Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I liked how she is really confident and opinionated. She is also really caring and loyal to those around her.

A book that made you cry

I cried several times while reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. The story of Jude is heartbreaking and it would make anyone cry.

A book that made you happy

A book that made me happy was Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. This book is a very easy read and I flew through it so quickly. The main character is also very loveable.

Favourite book to film adaptation you’ve seen this year

I have seen a few, but the one that sticks out is Call Me By Your Name. I watched the film before reading the book and as soon as the film ended, I ordered the book online. The film is absolutely phenomenal and it is still my favourite film of the year (I watched it in February).

Favourite review you’ve written this year

I really liked my review of Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett because it was for my first blog tour!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought this year

I have always loved the cover of Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman. It’s so pretty!

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I would like to read the books I still haven’t read that I own:

  • A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews
  • Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
  • Stone Girl by Eleni Hale
  • See Me by Nicholas Sparks
  • The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

I’m really impressed with the books I’ve read this year, they’ve been really good. I just need to read more instead of watching YouTube, I think that’s where I go wrong!

What has been your favourite book of the year (so far)?

  1. I also loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo! Such a beautiful novel – I also forced my friend to read it, and she loved it too! And yes, Radio Silence is such a surprisingly good novel! I read it in like 2 days because I was hooked! 😀

    1. Very true, it’s the saddest book I’ve read 😭
I hope so too, I’m so excited to read A Thousand Perfect Notes!
      Thank you, Lily ❤️🙂
