Week 3 of NaNoWriMo is over! I don’t know if November has been going slowly or quickly. On the one hand, it feels like it was just the first of November and I was stressing about my future (seeing as the day before I had finished uni). On the other hand, I’ve been writing like EVERY DAY and it feels like it’s been taking SO LONG!
Last week I complained a lot about lacking motivation and a few commenters were really sweet with helping me through it! Perhaps I was a little too dramatic. I could have been in a bad mood that day? I can’t remember; my memory is actually awful. Guess what, though? Today I’m in a GREAT mood!
Week 3 Progress
This week I actually remembered to document my writing!
Day 15
Today I was emotional because of the Yes vote in Australia. I was not busy during the day, but was in the evening, so decided to get my writing done throughout the day. I was listening to the radio and that was distracting me a lot. Even so, I managed to write 820 words.
Day 16
I was able to write 828 words today. I think I would be able to write more if I made my room quiet and shut off all my distractions but, alas, I am unable to do that.
Day 17
I waited until 6:30pm to start writing today. I had an idea for something I was stuck on previously, which helps move my plot a bit better. Today I was writing a scene that I was really enjoying, and managed to write 1,598 words!
Day 18
It was Saturday today and I was pretty busy all day. I did find time to write still, and managed to churn out 549 words.
Day 19
I had another busy day and started writing at 7:30pm. I wrote a scene that I really liked. I wrote 1,101 words.
Day 20
I started training for my new job today. I didn’t really feel like writing much when I got home! *A few hours later* Okay, I’ve learned a trick that really works with me. Basically, instead of ending a day’s writing on the end of a scene/chapter, I end it during the middle of a conversation or paragraph etc. This really helps when I want to start writing the next day because I’ll know how the scene should end, which will keep my writing going. Anyway, today I only wrote 387 words, oops.
Day 21
Guess what, everyone? I started my writing today before 6:30pm! I had a non-busy day and had my word document open for most of it. In the evening I had to build a hammock, among other things, which was quite challenging to do in the heat. I wrote 1,378 words today!
Stats
Week 1: 7,991 words
Week 2: 4,499 words
Week 3: 6,706 words
Total: 19,181 words
I do kind of wish NaNoWriMo wasn’t all about reaching 50,000 words, because when I look at my profile, this is what I see:
Seeing this is really discouraging! I’m nowhere close to the target lol.
Quotes
Here are some quotes from my WIP!
This was after a big event in the story:
My main character has anxiety:
Who else loves writing similes? I love including them and then when I edit I can pick the best ones in the chapter. If you were to read my WIP before I edited it, you would tell me to cut back on the similes.
EDIT: I was going to wait to post this but when I closed my word document it just disappeared. I go my recent folder and the document is there and it says ”
Looks like you’ve had a pretty good week! I know what you mean about needing to start earlier. I’ve been in the habit of starting at 10pm which is when I’m least productive and struggle to even get words down on the page. Good luck with the last week of NaNo! 🙂

Thanks! It’s so hard to start earlier in the day but it’s much better when you do! I totally struggle with it too though 😬 Good luck to you too 🙂

As long as you are writing, be proud and rock it! I signed up and have plotted quite a bit but written nothing. Great job on your progress 🙂

I think you’re right about not worrying about reaching 50k because you’ve been making such awesome progress and you should be proud. I’d be proud if I wrote that many words but maybe I’ll participate next year. 🙂
Awesome to hear you’re in a good mood and can’t wait to see how week 4 goes.
