The Location Book Tag

Rachel @ Pace, Libre, Amore tagged me recently to do The Location Book Tag. Thank you for tagging me, Rachel! The questions are like scenarios, which I think is really creative. This wonderful tag was created by Puppa Pages.

For most of these questions I’m going to choose books that I haven’t read yet because sometimes it is hard to think about books I have previously read.

1. You’re sat in a coffee shop trying to read when a group of excited six year olds come in with their parents and begin screaming in the play area. Which book can you push past the noise and lose yourself in?

I don’t know if any book can distract me from screaming kids, but, nonetheless, I’ll go with Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. I think his new book will be able to distract me because I haven’t read a book from him in four years and it is about time.

2. Your (rich) friends dare you to spend the night in a haunted house for an undisclosed but inevitably large sum of money. Which book do you bring to distract yourself with?

That sounds terrifying, but I’ll do it for the money! I think I’ll choose Eliza and Her Monsters because it sounds like a book I’ll really enjoy. Eliza seems like a character who wouldn’t make me feel alone.

3. Though the landscapes are beautiful, your delayed train journey is starting to drag. Which book do you take out?

This question is too real. I hate it when my train gets delayed. I’ll need a book to get lost in, so I’m going to go with A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. I’ve probably said I want to read this on so many people’s blogs, but the reason I haven’t is because it hasn’t come out in paperback yet. As soon as it does I’m snatching it up and reading it when my train gets delayed.

4. It’s beach time! You have your family and friends around you and don’t want to miss out on the conversation too much but still want to read. Which book do you choose?

YA books are really easy for me to read, so I’m going to go with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I’ll be reading this one later this month and think it will be the type of book you can read around distractions.

5. You’re backstage ready for your big emotional scene but the tears just won’t come. Which book do you get out to make you cry?

Rachel also chose what I am going with, but it’s the first thing I thought of and it’s a great choice! A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara has been on my TBR since my teacher last semester recommended it. It sounds like a very depressing book and should be able to make me tear up a little (I’m not a crier).

6. You’re camping in the woods with your friends and you’re the first to wake up. Which book do you read under the early morning light?

Whenever I used to have a sleepover as a kid I would always be the first to wake up. I will go with Without Merit by Colleen Hoover because this is being released soon, and she is one of the only authors who would make me want to read during sleep hours.

7. You’ve had an amazing day on your solo trip but now that you’re back at the hotel, you’re starting to feel a little homesick. What do you read to feel less lonely?

As this scenario is about home, I’m going to choose a book from where I live, Australia. I have seen Begin, End, Begin Again: A #LoveOzYA Anthology in bookstores, but haven’t felt the need to buy it because I do not recognise any of the authors. I still think it would be interesting to read solely Australian stories. The other day I saw a girl reading it and got a little jealous.

8. You’ve been invited for an interview for an place at a prestigious university. Which book do you lay flat on your knee to hide the cover while you wait?

I think if you turned up to an interview with Carry On by Rainbow Rowell it would be wise to hide the cover. I absolutely love the cover though. I’m going to be reading this one sometime this month, so maybe I actually will be hiding it when I’m out in public. Although I don’t actually care if someone sees an embarrassing cover to be honest.

9. The book exchange stall at the library finally has the book you’ve wanted for so long, and you have a book in your bag that you’ve been dying to get rid of. Which do you give away, and which do you take?

This is an easy question, finally. There are so many books that I would swap. I’ll go with Halo by Alexandra Adornetto because I really disliked it when I read it and I don’t have the other books in the series, so it wouldn’t be missed.

10. You were just browsing the children’s section of the library and boom, you’re hit with a sudden blast from the past. Which book have you found that you haven’t seen for years but that you used to love as a child?

When I was a child I really liked a book called Diary of a Would-Be Princess by Jessica Green.
